Peter Florence
Peter Florence was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge and Universite de Paris IV, La Sorbonne. He holds an MA in Modern and Medieval Literatures, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Glamorgan. Florence has founded and directed the world’s four leading literary festivals – in Hay, Mantova, Cartagena and Parati. He has advised and consulted for twelve other festivals in the UK and Europe. He is a Fellow of The Japan Foundation, The British America Project and Hereford Art College. Florence works in film and politics as a script doctor, speechwriter and editor. He was awarded an MBE for services to literature in the New Year’s Honours list, 2005 and is married to the publisher Becky Shaw. They have four sons and live between London and Hay.
