Firooz Zahedi

Iranian born Firooz Zahedi has been one of America's most prominent international portrait and advertising  photographer in the past twenty five years. A protégé of Andy Warhol, Zahedi worked with Interview Magazine in the mid-1970s where he was befriended by Elizabeth Taylor, who took him to Hollywood as her personal photographer in 1978.

A former diplomat, Zahedi settled in Los Angeles and quickly established himself as a leading celebrity photographer working both for international magazines as well as advertising agencies that specialise in film posters. In the late 1980s he began working with Vanity Fair, one of the most respected of international publications showcasing master photographers since the early part of the 20th century.

His name has been on the Vanity Fair masthead alongside the century’s photographic greats like Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts and Annie Liebovitz. Zahedi has shot covers for magazines like Time, Town & Country, Esquire, GQ and Glamour. He has also photographed award winning posters for such films as Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Edward Scissorhands and many others.

A personal favourite of many Hollywood Divas, Zahedi has collaborated with Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Shakira on creating images for their album covers. He has photographed celebrity-endorsed advertising campaigns with Diane Keaton ( L’Oreal), Christina Aguilera ( Coca Cola), Sharon Stone
( Ebel) and others such as Meg Ryan, Jodi Foster and Faye Dunaway.

Besides directing commercials and music videos, Zahedi has enjoyed wide success with his art photography of floral subjects, which have been exhibited in several prominent museums and galleries in the United States of America. His love of architecture and design is reflected in his photographs of interiors for such publications as Elle Décor. A strong advocate of cultural and creative leadership in the Middle East, Zahedi believes that positive change can come through empowering youth and creativity.
